You have probably heard it is good for your skin, but what exactly are the benefits of Extra Virgin Olive Oil? Why does it come with such a high recommendation? Here are some reasons why you may want to add EVOO to your skincare routine.
Moisturizer - Because it is full of fatty acids, EVOO is a wonderful moisturizer. Just make sure it is rinsed off after about 30 minutes if applying it to your face because it is a heavy oil and can clog your pores. It is especially helpful for dry and/or itchy skin because it contains a compound called oleocanthal.
Premature aging - Vitamins A, C, and E are all antioxidants contained in EVOO. They not only fight premature aging but also can help fade scars and dark spots over time.
Makeup Remover - Acting as a magnet, EVOO attracts the oils in your makeup and sunscreen and pulls them with it when you rinse it off. You also get the added benefit of extra moisture left behind.
Nail Doctor - Vitamin E is wonderful for nails and can rejuvenate weak or tearing nails and soften cuticles. Just apply a small amount with a cotton ball and wipe away excess.
Glowing Skin - Add a couple of drops to your face in key highlighting places to give your skin and extra luminescent finish - leaving your face looking fresh and dewy
Ear Aches - Heat a little olive oil until it is warm (not hot!) and pour it into your ear then plug your ear with a little cotton. The oil helps to break up earwax and soothe any irritation or inflammation.
Body Scrub - Combine a little EVOO with sugar or sea salt to make and awesome body scrub that gets rid of dead skin and moisturizes.
No matter what you use if for, there is no doubt that Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a great natural source of moisture and vitamins to help with anything from skin to hair and nails. There is no reason to not be using if for its amazing properties!
